Order of Canada

This is award to recognize outstanding Canadians, I think much like the “Datuk” position in Malaysia though its more rampant given in Malaysia with sometimes very little purposes.

But this award given to Morgentaler who gives women the right to abortion is greeted with both applause and anger. I actually totally agree he should be given the award. I dont think abortion is necessarily bad, if ever the women who chose to do them are somewhat doing the right thing. And there is a saying…dont hate the players, hate the game.

She won’t leave him alone!

With Ben crawling, Ava has become a pest, she wont leave him alone and constantly trying to either step on him, stop him or basically annoys the heck out of him and me. The cuteness only go so far and I think Ava thinks her name is “NO” since though I will be telling her a million times to leave him alone, she just giggles away unless I use my “evil” face aka eyes wide open, and trying to use my man’s voice..haha of course it dont work all the time. Ooppss, we did it again

When Ava was teething, we gave her a piece of dried caribou and she sucked and chewed the bejesus out of it partly because maybe it had flavor. She was 6 months. Then fast forward the 2nd child, we gave Ben the same thing and again worked like a charm! Read More…

3rd Canada Day and counting

Happy Belated Canada Day. We had a quiet Canada Day as usual. There were quads and fire trucks going around the community in a parade like manner and a bicycle race but other than that I was wishing I was in Ottawa celebrating Canada Day. Oh well, when the kids are older I suppose.

Celebrating another year of Canada day also reminds me I am eligible for citizenship next year. I’ve been really debating about to retain or drop the Malaysian citizenship. I dont really have much use for it really since my kids are Canadian and the Canadian passport seems to go more places with less issues or a visa. Oh well, at least I have another Canada Day next year to think about it.

More wardrobe refashion

I think I have a problem. I cannot look at clothing without thinking what I can churn out from it, its crazy. I’ve also become a semi hoarder when it comes to clothing or fabric. I have a garbage bag full of Ben’s clothing and some premmie stuff that my sister sent me that at first I wanted to turn into a quilt for him but he really does have a lot of clothes so I think I will donate that bag someone in need. Its hard but I have about 5 IKEA laundry bags, 3 rubbermaid totes and 1 huge 70lbs suitcase worth of mostly recycled material waiting to be refashion. On top of that, I got some new fabric, a lot of IKEA stuff since its great to have nice fabric at a fraction of the price plus its all bright and summery, good for turning them into dresses. My amauti is here!!

So i finally caved and had an amauti custom made for me. When we first came here, Ava was 6 months old she wasnt interested to sit in it and was constantly crying despite me trying several times so I didnt bother making one plus they are expensive. But we just came up back then and money was tight so secretly I was glad she didnt like it. Read More…

Culinary endeavours

We’ve quite a culinary journey lately. A good friend of Frank in Ottawa gave us some venison chops and sausages. We also have the moose from Newfoundland. And today I got some bison burgers that we’ve not tried, but should be interesting. Frank will be getting an arctic char and Ava loves fish, she is not a meat girl at all. Read More…

Watching me like a hawk

The kids are having some major separation anxiety issue that its tiring for me. To top it all off, the water/heating issue in our house is not resolved so I have maintenance guys coming everyday ever since we moved here. Its starting to get annoying since its bad enough the kids have to see me so they wont scream but the lack of privacy is really getting to me. No amount of talking will soothe them, they have to visually see me so its tiring. Read More…

He is growing fast!

So Ben has become way more mobile, he can now effectively commando crawl and has been lifting his back legs to initiate crawling. But he still thinks its faster to roll to get somewhere instead of commando crawl. With him being more mobile, means he will soon be transfered to the crib. I had the shock of my life when I had him on the bed with a “pillow fort” and he still manage to kick them off and then fall on his noggin. I am glad he was fine despite crying for a few minutes. It was a scare indeed. Read More…

Ready, Set, Go!

The kids put up a little show for us this weekend, it was cute. When I found out we were expecting again when Ava was just 8 months old. I must say I freaked out a little. Its uncharted territory, 2 under 2 planet and the endless “are we ready” questions. Truthfully, I dont think we will ever be really ready to have kids, let alone have 2. Read More…
